Server issues !
Hello everybody !
We have had some serious server issues, we have been down for the past 2 days, hopefully this will never happen again.
Now then let me explain what happened !
The server was running ubuntu server 8.04 and the system kept asking if I wanted to upgrade or not the server and 2 days ago it did it while I was sleeping, so then when I got up everything was offline, I couldn't access the server or anything.
I decided to boot on the recovery network of the datacenter and surprise there was only one thing left on the hard drive... "LOST+FOUND" !
And in this folders thousands and thousands of files with names like "#154461968". The whole hard drive got dumped in this folder...
Even the operating system itself !
Then I decided to do something about it, I installed ubuntu server 10.04... It wouldn't boot either... After a few hours I had to stop because of storm (water came into my house... good times !).
Well then, today I decided to screw linux and install windows server instead ! But then... I saw the price... 70€/mo which is why I did not install it !
I didn't know what to do until I add the idea to install a VMware server to run windows on it instead of playing with linux again...
The first install failed for no reason, but the second install as you can see works !
It shouldn't crash again ! But I found this solution a few hours ago, I don't if it will work fine or not...
