Bethesda has finally released the creation kit tools for Skyrim! For those of you wondering what those are and what they mean for Skyrim Online, here's the jist of it.

The creation kit is a set of development tools that can be used to easily create mods for the PC version of Skyrim. It's free to download for all Steam users. (This also means if you have a "cracked" copy of the game, you will have to BUY the game to use these tools).

"Mod-makers have a long history with Bethesda Game Studios, bringing to life new quests, locations and characters, as well as making changes to game from subtle tweaks to full-blown overhauls," said level designer Joel Burgess. "With the Creation Kit, the same tool we used to create Skyrim, there's almost no limit to what can be accomplished... and we're putting that power in your hands."

In correlation to Skyrim Online, these tools will help boost content development, and really give us much more of the power we need to bring you a multiplayer experience we can all be proud of.

There has been a lot of worry amongst the public over the last couple weeks in regards to the direction of development and future updates. I'm here to tell you all a little news on the current status of the project.

A lot of things have been kept in the dark from you all, but trust me it's been for a good reason! We want to surprise everyone with the next "big" update of Skyrim Online. We're giving time to allow your imaginations to run wild with the limitless possibilities laid out before you. The suggestions board has been fantastically active and helpful in providing ideas and possible future updates; even though in some cases bickering ensued and rumors created.

I'll take a timeout to comment on the rumor mill, firstly - "Skyrim Online will be an MMO" - This is nothing more than myth. It hasn't been fully decided what the direction of the game will end up taking. At current, the Development Team is highly focused on our first major milestone: Syncing of avatars among a few other features we're keeping under wraps for now. Secondly, many people have decided they know or can determine the future of Skyrim Online because they frequently "hang out" with the Team. This is untrue, there is much information that isn't shared with the public at all, and kept within the confines of the development team's virtual office space. Once again, our main focus right now is to create a stable update that will bring many of the core features into the game.

Others of you have been wondering why this particular update is taking so long, and this is due to the fact that much of our progress is dependant on the release of the creation kit by Bethesda (To be released on Tuesday). This has slowed progress of what we want to accomplish for our next update, but fear not for the team's still been hard at work. Right now they've been doing "house keeping", streamlining code and working hard on the server back-end.

We do greatly appreciate the patience that the community has had with us in the development process! For those of you who have coding experience you know that there's alot of work involved. So please don't spend your time on the forums arguing with someone else over nothing. In the coming days or weeks we'll be able to announce a lot more, but for now patience will be your best asset!

New Homepage!

While you were all sleeping we implemented a snazzy new homepage for you to stare at! After we removed Wordpress we felt a homepage was rather lacking, so we made a new one. The new homepage implements a few needed things that should help new players get started quicker and easier.

  • We've added game information, which includes a game tutorial and the current features of the game.
  • We've also updated the team list with the active members names. (Hoping to expand on this in the future)
  • A new media section was added where we will add our favorite Screenshots/Videos from the community
  • And a FAQ is in the process of being built, and will be added within the next day or two.

Don't forget that we're still looking for experienced C++ developers. If you want to look at the requirements and expectations we have, please check the "Openings" section.
